Brand Challenge
Mount Angel Abbey is located on a hilltop that looks over Oregon’s panoramic Willamette Valley. Part of a 1,500-year-old tradition is the Benedictine Monks who live, teach and work among the historic monastery, seminary, and guesthouse. The objective of the brand initiative was to bring clarity on the the Monastic life, and to convey Mount Angel Abbey as an archetype to both those of faith and without of what it looks like to seek things that are above the noise of today’s frantic world and how we can live together in community and peace.
Solution
The brand solution centers around a new identity and narrative that represents a spirit of “Seeking Things Above.” The illustrative logo design is a fresh expression of an ancient faith that is approachable, uplifting and inspiring. The brand narrative helps tell the often unknown and misunderstood story of Benedictine monks who welcome all to come and join them in a quiet and continuous way of life, in rhythm with over 1,500 years of deep faith and Benedictine traditions.
