Brand Challenge
Linfield College, a leading liberal arts college located in the Pacific Northwest, is well-known for its rigorous academics, competitive sports programs, and tight-knit community campus.
Due to increased competition growing in higher education, Linfield College needed to define and clearly communicate what made them distinctive to both potential students and donor audiences.
Solution
Through research we learned the primary reason for students selecting Linfield was because of it's small school environment. Linfield's intimate and nurturing community enabled students close access to professors and opportunities they would not experience at a large university.
We recommended leveraging their smallness expressed through "The Power of a Small College" positioning tagline, an acorn visual identity, and brand messaging to convey the impact and transformation that can be achieved through something small.
Results
Linfield College experienced the highest enrollment the school year following the launch and marketing a comprehensive campaign highlighting the new identity and messaging.
Linfield's Vice President of Enrollment stated, "Enrollment is up almost to a 'we're nervous we have too many and how are we going to teach them all level'. But it's better than the alternative. The new brand and view book look really good!"
